“You sure are persistent,” is a phrase that Shawn Nelson heard 20 years ago before being hired for a Parts Sales position at the Hawley store.
When Shawn found himself moving back to the area after college, he saw an opening at the Hawley, Minnesota store and went for it, calling the manager several times a week before earning the position.
The rest is history, and Shawn has spent the last 20 years working in various positions across RDO’s equipment and farm businesses. He spent over a decade working for the RDO Equipment Co. before moving to the purchasing department for R.D. Offutt Farms.
In his current role as Capital Purchasing Manager, he oversees tractors, harvesting and vehicle fleet, RDO’s Land Development Team, and any new irrigation or building projects.
When asked about his favorite aspects of his job, Shawn said, “I love bringing projects to the finish line, and seeing the implementation of new equipment and farming practices that improve our farm's efficiencies.”
When he isn't working, he can be found spending time with his wife Teresa, and sons Brayden and Rylan enjoying the outdoors riding motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
Shawn also serves as the Assistant Fire Chief for the Hawley Vol. Fire Dept. and is also president of his local snowmobile club.
