R.D. Offutt Farms Celebrates Truck Driver Appreciation Week

This week, during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we’d like to thank our drivers for their dedication to keeping our operation moving safely, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

R.D. Offutt’s Trucking Division was created in 1981, at the same time as the now Lamb Weston – RDO Frozen plant was built in Park Rapids. Today, we employ 22 year-round semi drivers and five shop and mechanic team members who maintain our company trucks. Additionally, we hire more than 100 seasonal and independent truck drivers throughout the year.

These hard-working men and women haul potato seed from warehouse to field, move equipment from one farm to the next, drive tandem trucks during harvest and finally, deliver potatoes to be processed. They haul close to 15,000 loads per year, driving more than 900,000 miles annually.

Our drivers play an important part in our company, transporting our potatoes, ensuring their loads are delivered on time and safely.

Safety is our priority and our accident free mileage awards is something we take pride in. We want to recognize our drivers for these incredible accident free milestones:

  • Glen Parks- 200,000 accident free miles
  • Tom Rasmussen- 300,000 accident free miles
  • Mike Karkinen- 300,000 accident free miles
  • Mitch Wendt- 600,000 accident free miles
  • Jason Kahlow-800,000 accident free miles
  • Joe Thielen- 1.4 million accident free miles

To our truck drivers and all 3.6 million truck drivers across our country – thank you for all that you do! We applaud your dedication, and we salute you for keeping our stores stocked and food on our tables.
